International Women's
Day Celebration

March 8, 2009

   "International Women's Day"

We no longer have facilities to have events, however we will post local events as they present themselves.

The time is now...
...and Gather the Women is your opportunity to join in a global movement to harness the power and wisdom of women for the benefit of all life.
Gather the Women Is...
...much more than a single event or a single day to focus on women -- it is a global movement and a structure that can support and connect women worldwide. One aspect of Gather the Women is our focus on March 8 -- International Women's Day as declared by the United Nations. Many countries in the world have a rich tradition of celebrating this day with a variety of events to recognize and honor women. Gather the Women is a grassroots movement to build more recognition and participation so this can truly be a global women's event, to link the women participating through a unique interactive Internet website www.gatherthewomen.org  and to establish a unifying goal of creating purposeful action through each event which can help to address the real problems facing our planet.

During the week of March 3-9 women around the world (including Mystic Goddess) are invited to create thousands of local, regional and national women's gatherings. Thousands of women heard the call to participate in this global women's retreat by creating unique events around the world.  These events enabled women to participate in a global conversation and to support one another in creating positive change through collaborative action.
We encourage you to begin planning to participate NOW.
One of the greatest gifts women bring to the world is their creativity, and we encourage you to use this gift in producing a gathering that is right for you and your community.
Some women will gather in quiet prayer in the context of their faith; others will gather in large rallies to hear speeches and music. Some will express their concern in public forums.
Some will gather for silent vigils, quiet contemplation or conversation.
Some will include experiential activities like music, movement, ritual or poetry. Some gatherings will be as small as three women meeting in a home; others will be large and organized in stadiums.
Each gathering will be unique and will reflect the values, skills and interests of the women involved.

International Women's Day has been celebrated for almost 90 years. The U.N. began sponsoring IWD in 1975.
At the very pivotal time in our history, women of the earth are being called to bring balance to our leadership and peace to our world. We are experiencing this call individually and collectively.
